Starting 5 motion graphic
I was a Digital Content Intern for the 2022-23 season at Monumental Sports and Entertainment, specifically working with the Washington Wizards NBA team. During my internship, one of my main projects was to create a motion graphic template for each of our three looks to use as the Starting 5 announcement post prior to each home and away game.
I designed and animated starting 5 motion graphics templates for all three of the Wizards looks using Adobe After Effects and Photoshop. During the season that I worked for the Wizards, our three looks consisted of the Core Look, Cherry Blossom City Edition Look, and the 25th Anniversary Classic Look.
I created the templates in a manner that made it easy to quickly switch out players in the native file, to create the final graphic that was exported each game prior to tipoff. This allowed for minimal time between finding out the starting 5 from the coaching staff and posting to the Wizards Twitter account, as we had to move quickly to get that content out before the start of the game.

core look
For the core look, I incorporated staple graphic elements from the current season of the Wizards main branding, to ensure cohesiveness throughout marketing collateral.
This look includes the well-known red, white, and blue colors of the team, combined with star graphics and stripes inspired by the DC flag.
classic look
The 25th Anniversary “Classic” look is inspired by the original Wizards branding. It combines elements of the original Wizard logo (an actual wizard), the gold, white, and light blue color way of the jerseys, as well as some vintage texture overlays.
cherry look
This particular season, the City Edition jerseys were inspired by DC’s famous cherry blossom season.
I incorporated the pink and blue colors of the cherry blossom branding, as well as adding some elements like cherry blossom petal animations to really emphasize the theme throughout the motion graphic.
